This is your reminder to get outside…

I was talking to my dad last night about how I was going to switch out my gym workout today for a walk in the fresh air. I also said how much I love being outside in the countryside, but most of the time I am just too lazy to get out there. Which is ironic as taking a nice walk isn’t half as taxing as doing a full on gym workout. 😅 Well, today I went out for that walk but believe me, I nearly didn’t go. I couldn’t be bothered, I thought I’d get bored, it was cold, but I got out there and as I knew I would, I thoroughly enjoyed it. 🌳

So I’ve decided to write a little blog post, partially to hold myself accountable for getting out into the fresh air more, but also to talk about the many benefits I believe it has for all of us. 😌

So let’s get into it 🍂:

Exercise 💪

This is never a bad thing, whether you’re moving your body for 30 mins on a short walk or for hours on a 7 miler, moving your body and getting your heart rate up slightly is one of the best things we can do for our physical and mental health. I think some people underestimate walking, as some might say it’s easier than lifting weights, running and other cardio exercises. Trust me, when you get to one of these North Wales hills… don’t underestimate getting to the top. Also, something very important to remember, exercise isn’t just about the physical.

It’s free! 💷

A gym membership can cost anything from £20 to £200 a month, a walk costs absolutely nothing. Might I also add, it doesn’t smell of sweat, you haven’t got the meat head weight lifters grunting in your ear and the view is so much more beautiful. 😂

Peaceful 📲

This is my favourite one, the peace and the time to think. Getting away from your phone, or your laptop, the TV, the hectic speed of life. I always get to thinking about all sorts of things whilst I’m out walking, important things, not so important things or you know, why the sky is blue, just the uze. 😅 Hey, I got the idea for this blog post on my walk today… you are oh so welcome! 😉 Our life these days is soooo consumed by technology and social media, we’re constantly on our phones, I’m absolutely guilty of it, believe me. Just having an hour away from that, is unbelievably refreshing, if you take anything from this blog post, please take that.

‘You’ time ❤️

Whether you go for your walk alone or with your friends, it is still time for you. It might be the only hour you get to yourself that day, it might be the only chance you get to choose what you want to do that day. Taking time for yourself, I believe, is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves and so many of us, just don’t do it. We’re rallying around trying to build a successful career, some of you might have families, we’re trying to fit everything we’ve got to do, in to a short space of time, whilst still trying to keep a thriving social life, man it’s hard, I really do get ya! Maybe if we took that one hour a day to choose something for us and only us, all of the above wouldn’t feel so overwhelming.

I really hope this might have sparked even the tiniest interest in getting out into the fresh air for a little walk. I’m definitely going to try and make more of an effort, especially whilst I’m here in Wales, I couldn’t dream of a more beautiful setting. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Let me know how you get on, I’d love to hear from you and that’ll help to get me out too, haha! 🍁

All my love and magic,

Shannon ✨
